NAWABSHAH: The Police Training Centre (PTC) Shahdadpur held its 186th passing-out parade on Thursday, marking the graduation of 773 male and female officers into the Sindh Police force.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, attended as the chief guest. In his address, he extended special congratulations to the female recruits, praising their “exceptional display of discipline” and their growing role within the force. Shift towards modernisation

The IGP emphasised that contemporary policing has evolved beyond the simple exercise of power. He noted that modern law enforcement requires a profound understanding of legal frameworks, a commitment to human rights and the seamless integration of technology.

“Your uniform represents a commitment to responsibility and public service, not personal authority,” the IGP reminded the new officers, urging them to maintain the integrity of the Sindh Police through honesty and impartial conduct.

The IG also commended the college administration for its shift towards modernisation, highlighting the recent establishment of smart classrooms and computer labs, dedicated crime scene units for forensic training and an open library to foster continuous learning. Legacy of service

Commandant PTC Shahdadpur, Zahida Parveen, highlighted the institution’s historical significance, noting that the college has trained over 148,000 personnel from various government departments since it was established in 1943.

The ceremony, which was kept dignified yet simple in alignment with the national austerity drive, began with a formal guard of honour for the IGP.

At the conclusion of the event, shields were presented to the recruits who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their departmental courses.
