KHOST, June 24: A two-metre-long spy plane believed to belong to the US-led coalition crashed into a village in south-eastern Afghanistan but caused no casualties, police said on Saturday.

The unmanned aircraft plunged to earth on Friday in Khost, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Haroon said.

US-led coalition forces retrieved it on Saturday, he said. The coalition could not immediately confirm the accident.

Mr Haroon said the small unmanned plane came down in Ismail Khail district. “But we don’t know for what purpose it was being used,” he said.

“The plane ploughed into the outer wall of a house yesterday. Today Americans came and took it with them,” said Gul Wali Shah from Aliwot village.—AFP
