RAWALPINDI: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday destroyed 200 litres of substandard juice during a major operation in the Gunjmandi area.
According to the spokesperson, the operation was carried out on a tip-off where a trader was found involved in buying and selling substandard juice.
He said that the quality of the juice available at the spot was found to be extremely poor, while no record of its purchase and sale was available, which is a serious violation of food safety laws.
Taking immediate action, PFA officials destroyed all the substandard juice on the spot to address the health risks posed to citizens.
Furthermore, a fine of Rs35,000 was also imposed on the owner of the shop for violating the laws.
He said that indiscriminate action will continue against those who play with the health of the public, and no one will be allowed to sell substandard food.
He appealed to the citizens to immediately report the sale of unsafe products or any kind of violation on the Punjab Food Authority helpline 1223 so that timely action can be taken.
