SUKKUR, June 21: Journalists staged a demonstration and observed a sit-in on the National Highway near Ghotki on Wednesday following the registration of a murder case against local journalist Mushtaq Mirani.

They staged a demonstration against police who, according to them, have registered a fake case of murder against Mirani.

Dozens of journalists staged another demonstration in front of the Sukkur press club on Wednesday against the killing of Muneer Sangi and Hayatullah, life attempt on Pano Akil-based journalist Paryal Dayo and for the release of Jacobabad-based journalist Mukesh Rupeta.

In Larkana and Thull, newsmen also took out processions, staged demonstrations and observed sit-ins to condmend the excesses against journalists.

Protestors observed a sit-in at the Rehbar Chowk in Thull for five hours.

They were chanting slogans against the police for what they termed their failure in protecting the people.
