GUJRANWALA, June 21: The execution of two condemned prisoners was postponed for a fortnight on the orders of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to allow time for mediation between the convict and aggrieved parties.

Reports said the jail authorities had completed all necessary arrangements for the execution of Abdul Rasheed and Muhammad Rafiq on Wednesday. However, the president accepted their request for mediation between the two parties failing which the two convicts would be hanged after a fortnight.

The two convicts had killed their cousins — Ijaz and Ashiq — in People’s Colony over old score in 1993.
