KARACHI: Robbers shot a transporter and walked off with over Rs1 million he withdrew from a private bank branch in the New Chali area on Tuesday, police said.

The Mithadar police said that Najeeb Ullah, 40, had withdrawn cash from a bank located on the main road in New Chali. As he stepped out of the bank, two armed men held him at gunpoint and snatched Rs1.1 million. When he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and fled with the looted cash.

The wounded man was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where his condition was stated to be stable.
