HYDERABAD, June 20: A seven-day art exhibition concluded here on Tuesday. The exhibition was organised by the Institute of Sindhology of the University of Sindh. Ms Akhtar Jabeen Siddiqui, chief patron of the Anjuman-i-Behbood Khawateen of Jamshoro, was chief guest at the ceremony.

A large number of art-lovers, teachers, students of various schools, and people from different walks of life visited the exhibition and attended the ceremony.

Art works by Saeed Mangi on karo-kari (honour killing), Shahid Qayoom Memon on Marui festival and Khuda Bux Phulpoto date complex under (architecture) were displayed.

The three artists completed their thesis on the National College of Arts Lahore in 2005.

Ms Akhtar Jabeen said that artists always identified problems and promoted values of society. She said that art had its own medium of expression, through colours.

She appreciated the contribution of Institute of Sindhology towards promotion of art and culture of the country.

In his thesis developed under multimedia on karo-kari, Saeed Mangi presented scenes of karo-kari (honour killing).

Shahid Qayoom Memon presented thesis on Marui festival and designed a campaign for festival requirements including invitation cards, souvenir, and other important components.

The artist also highlighted requirements for promotion of industry of dates, business and its proper marketing.

FATEHA: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement held Quran Khawani and offered Fateha for the party activists killed in Landhi and Korangi in 1992.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM zonal in charge Siraj Rajput and others said that Muttahida chief Altaf Hussain was the protector of Pakistan’s ideology and any conspiracy to eliminate him would not be tolerated.

He paid tributes to the people who sacrificed their lives on June 19 for a noble cause.
