LAHORE: The Progressive Students’ Collective (PSC) and Aurat March Lahore organised a protest outside the Lahore US consulate against the ongoing aggression by the USA and Israel on Iran.

The protest began at 2pm, outside the US consulate and continued till sundown - resonating with slogans such as “Down with Imperialism!”, “Death to the Zionist Imperialist Project!”

The peaceful protest revolved around a series of demands: The Pakistani government must withdraw from the so called “Board of Peace”, and unequivocally support the cause of Palestinian liberation in the geopolitical space; that the Pakistani government must unequivocally call out US and Israeli aggression on Iran and Lebanon.

The protesters demanded immediate, transparent and independent investigation into the deaths of protesters during March 1 protests in Karachi, Islamabad, Skardu and Gilgit, particularly the use of force by the US marines. The protesters demanded that the findings of the investigation must be made public, and those responsible must be held accountable.

PSC Secretary General Eqbal Khan, addressing the protesters, spoke about the failures of military and foreign interventions for so-called human rights causes and how regions are left far more destabilised, worsening human rights conditions after foreign interventions, and how such interventions are driven by resource extraction.

PSC spokesperson Sara Ali, addressing the gathering, highlighted the hypocrisy of the imperial world order, the west using women liberation as a scapegoat to broaden its colonial and imperial resource extraction and establish the Zionist imperialist order in region. The spokesperson talked about the hypocrisy of USA, its worsening state of women’s rights while preaching them to violate Iran’s sovereignty.

PSC Central Organiser Ahsan Javed, spoke about how this aggression finds its roots in Palestine, and how the cause of Palestinian Liberation challenges the US-Israel global hegemony.

He demanded that the Pakistani state withdraw from the “Board of Peace”, and fulfil its duty to its people by supporting the cause of Palestinian liberation.
