LAHORE: A sessions court in Dunyapur on Friday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment in an acid attack case that resulted in the death of a man in Lodhran district.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Syed Ahsan Mahboob found Rukhsana Bibi guilty of throwing acid on Abid, a resident of Medina Colony, Jalla Arain, in Dunyapur tehsil of Lodhran district.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on June 19, 2025, when the accused allegedly attacked the victim with acid, causing severe burn injuries. Abid remained under treatment for several days but later succumbed to his wounds.

Following the victim’s death, murder charges were added to the case.

The investigation was transferred to the LodhranCrime Control Department (CCD) which arrested the suspect and conducted the probe on scientific lines.

Investigators completed the inquiry and submitted the challan before the trial court.

After hearing arguments and examining the evidence, the court on Feb 27 convicted the accused and awarded her life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs1 million. The court also directed that the fine amount be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased in accordance with the law.
