HYDERABAD, June 18: A television cable network of Badin on Sunday accused a local journalist of taking two cable connections and harassing the service providers.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad press club here on Sunday, the seven partners of the cable network alleged that the newsmen had taken two connections, but had been refusing to pay monthly charges over the years.

They said that a few days ago, they had to disconnect his cable line because of repairs in a house close to his residence. But the newsman had connected his cable to the main cable line, disrupting services to other people, and also abused linemen, they said.

His attitude, they said, had forced the network to remove the entire main line from the area, which had infuriated the journalist and he had started publishing they termed baseless news reports against the cable group.

The network partners said they had approached the journalist to resolve the issue, but he had refused to talk to them.

He had also sent applications to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) against the network that had called them to Karachi. However, the group had furnished documentary evidences against the journalist’s allegations, they added.
