HYDERABAD, June 18: A widow and mother of eight has appealed to the federal and provincial authorities and the superior judiciary to take notice of what she called manipulation in the record of her 100-acre land situated in deh Sobhodero, district Khairpur.

Shahnaz Begum, widow of Shafqat Ali, was speaking at a press conference in the Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday. Her children were present on the occasion.

The woman said she had submitted an application with Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment Director A.D.Khowaja against the manipulation in the record. He had directed the Khairpur circle officer to hold an inquiry into the matter.

Shahaz, resident of Al-Rehman Apartments, old Hala Naka Hyderabad, claimed that the Khairpur anti-corruption department had sent a report to the director clearly accusing that revenue officials of changing the documents.

She said Mr Khwaja had directed the circle officer to register a case.

The woman said she was a widow and mother of eight children and her only source of livelihood was the agricultural land of her husband.

She claimed that she was being threatened with murder if she did not withdraw her complaints.

SCA: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture at its weekly meeting held here on Sunday welcomed the budgetary allocations for livestock and cattle farming, but pointed out that a cattle farmer was not in a position to provide any security for loans.

The meeting proposed to the government that the cattle purchased through loans should be insured and milk should be purchased from the farmers at the rate of Rs20 per litre.

It demanded that markets should be established in different areas for purchasing milk and the government should sign agreements with different lending companies in this regard. They said the companies should pay half amount to the cattle farmer while the remaining should be adjusted against loans.
