KHYBER: Security forces on Tuesday effectively responded to a cross-border attack from Afghan forces in the Bazaar-Zakhakhel area here, officials said.

They said that the Afghan forces launched sudden attacks at multiple points in Wragha Sar, Maro Sar and Shahkot Sar areas while unsuccessfully targeting Pakistani border posts.

The officials said that reacting promptly, border security forces retaliated with full force while effectively silencing gun and artillery fire from the Afghan side.

They said that the firing continued for some time with Pakistani forces remaining alert and vigilant to the situation and thwarting the bid from across the border to cause any damage to the border posts.

“It is all quiet now,” security officials said and added that forces were on high alert to respond to any further retaliation from Afghanistan.
