HYDERABAD: Against the backdrop of reports that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan is undergoing an internal organisational crisis, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has declared that there is no grouping within the party, saying that the MQM-P is united under the leadership of chairman Dr Khalid Mabqool Siddiqui.

He was speaking to party workers and media at the party’s district office in Bhai Khan Ki Chari on Wednesday evening. He was accompanied by MQM-P leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haq, district organiser Zafar Siddiqui, MPAs Sabir Kaimkhani, Nasir Qureshi and Rashid Khan and others.

Internal rifts within the MQM-P has become the talk of the town after the governor held a programme at Governor House while senior leaders Mustafa Kamal held a public meeting in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area the same day.

But on Tuesday night, MQM-P leader Anis Kaimkhani visited the zonal office and delivered a brief speech to party workers, dismissing reports of any rift within MQM-P, which he said was headed by Dr Siddiqui.

Says MQM-P ‘united’ under Khalid Maqbool’s leadership; Rs5bn uplift package being readied for Sindh’s second largest city

On Wednesday, the governor, who is a nominee of the MQM-P, visited the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and then arrived at Hyderabad.

At the party office, he said: “People can have different opinions in the party, but the MQM is united and they are led by Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as chairman.”

He said that party workers proved that they stood with the MQM-P and kite — party’s electoral symbol.

He said that the Rs5 billion special development package approved for Hyderabad was being through different processes and added that MQM-P would give results before completion of their tenure.

He said that the MQM-P understands that Hyderabad contributes in terms of taxes and growth in industry yet it doesn’t get its due share and nobody treats the wounds of this city.

He said people of this city belonged neither to Form-45 nor Form-47, but 1947 and that’s why never disappointed the MQM-P.

He said that Governor House would be hosting Iftar every day during Ramazan and would provide Umrah ticket, plot, motorbike, cell phone, sewing machines through balloting throughout the holy month.

He conceded that these initiatives could not be replicated in Hyderabad for some reasons which he would spell out sometime later.

He recalled that he had talked about a special package for Hyderabad and that it was going through different stages.

He said that MQM doesn’t want to create a political crisis because Pakistan was already engaged with India since May 2025 after winning a war and such a crisis could give reasons to the enemy.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Farooq Sattar, in his brief address, said the MQM-P was going to become intervener in the Gul Plaza Commission and the party would make this PPP’s Waterloo for its 17-year disastrous rule in Sindh.

He said the party was working on a white paper of PPP’s rule and it would be presented. Besides, he said, the MQM-P was also re-organising its party cadre. He claimed that Hyderabad and Karachi mayors would belong to MQM in future.

Another leader, Aminul Haq, asserted that those who believed MQM-P had been eliminated were daydreaming.

He said that a Rs5bn special package for Hyderabad was going through administrative processes of PC-I. “You will see this project’s related works being implemented in the next six months”, he said.
