Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Deputy Convener Kamran Tessori on Sunday announced his decision to quit the party citing disagreements with its leadership, DawnNews reported.

Tessori said he was parting ways with MQM because he felt he was not consulted for important decisions despite holding a senior position in the party.

He said the Amir Khan group was getting stronger than the Farooq Sattar group, which left him with no option other than leaving the party.

Tessori also did not travel to Hyderabad with the party leadership to attend the MQM's rally on Sunday.

A gold trader and former PML-F leader, Tessori had joined MQM earlier this year and risen to prominence soon after.

He was fielded by MQM against PPP's Saeed Ghani in PS-114 by-election and managed to receive over 18,000 votes but lost to Ghani by a margin of 5,00 votes.

Earlier this year, MNA Salman Mujahid Baloch told a private news channel that Dr Sattar and Amir Khan were heading their separate groups within the MQM-P.

The Amir Khan group comprised Faisal Sabzwari, Khwaja Izhar, and others; while Kamran Tessori, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, and Khwaja Sohail Mansoor were in Dr Sattar’s camp, Baloch said this after his expulsion from the party.
