PESHAWAR, June 16: Finance Minister Sirajul Haq will present the NWFP budget for the 2006-07 fiscal in the provincial assembly on Saturday. The revenue receipts next year are estimated to exceed Rs67.5 billion, mainly owing to greater flow of resources promised by Islamabad under the amended National Finance Commission award.

The federal government has projected to transfer a total of Rs44.64 billion to the NWFP as its share under the federal divisible pool along with multiple receipts provinces receive under different heads every year.

An amount of Rs9.7 billion will come as subvention/special grant from the centre and Rs8 billion will be reflected under the net hydel profit head. The province’s own receipts will be close to Rs5.5 billion.

According to sources, the government will project capital receipts of Rs5.2 billion under the World Bank’s loan agreement.

Over 15 per cent of the revenue will be diverted to repay foreign debt and cash development loan payable to the federal government.

The government is going to unveil an all-time high Rs26.63 billion Annual Development Programme for 2006-07, involving foreign-funded projects worth Rs7.68 billion.

The government is set to announce induction of 2,000 lady health workers and 115 jobs for nurses.

Sources said that a monthly stipend of Rs200 would be provided to each girl student in remote areas and a special monthly allowance of Rs1,000 would be offered to every teacher posted in far-flung areas.
