SARGODHA: A young woman was allegedly murdered by her brothers and father for contracting love marriage after getting divorce from her husband.

The police have registered a case against the victim’s brothers and father on the complaint of her husband, Amir Sohail, and started investigation.

According to the FIR, Zoha Kausar (23) of Niaz Colony, Miani Town, Sargodha, got divorce from her husband and contracted second marriage of her free will with Amir Sohail, a resident of Vehari, over one and a half months ago.

The FIR says that Zoha’s family harboured a grudge against her for contracting second marriage without their consent.

It says that around 10 days ago, the woman’s family invited her to their house at Miani Town, through mediation by some relatives on the pretext of reconciliation and allegedly murdered her.

To conceal the murder, the suspects, including her brothers and her father, claimed that Zoha died of “natural causes” and buried her.

The Miani police claimed to have arrested one of the victim’s brothers, Imran Arsalan.

GANG-RAPED: A married woman was allegedly gang-raped by three suspects who also recorded the episode and threatened to upload the video on social media if she filed acomplaint with police.

According to the FIR, registered under Section 375A/292 of the Pakistan Penal Code, ‘A’, wife of a labourer, Ehsan, was alone at her house in Feroz Colony, Kot Raja area of Kot Momin town, when the three suspects barged in.

They allegedly gang-raped the woman and recorded a video of the episode.

The suspects threatened to share the video on social media if she reported the matter to police. The survivor, however, shared the incident with her father, who lodged a complaint with the Kot Momin police, which registered the case against the suspects and started looking for them.

DEMAND: The residents of Satellite Town Block A Sargodha have demanded repair and restoration of a water filtration plant which has been sealed by the Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) over water quality a month ago.

They say that the filtration plant was installed by an NGO in the locality, but it was sealed by Wasa a month ago, declaring the water injurious to human health.

They says that despite the passage of a month, the plant has neither been repaired nor any alternative arrangement has been made to supply them potable water.

Due to the plant closure, the residents of Satellite Town Block A, Block D, Aziz Colony, Bashir Colony and Yousaf Park have been deprived of clean drinking water.
