JACOBABAD, June 16: A man and a woman were killed and three others sustained serious injuries as two groups exchanged fire over a land dispute in Garhi Khairo on Thursday. The woman, Husna Bheel and Khudadad, were killed while Mashooq Shahlani, Lal Khan Umrani and Sikandar Shahlani received serious wounds when the rival groups clashed with each other. The groups exchanged fire for six hours and also used rockets.

The injured were taken to local hospital.

Later, personnel of police and rangers arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

PROTEST: Activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz staged a procession on Friday to protest against the murder of JSQM leader, Hakim Notiar.

The procession led by Sarwar Mastoi, Shaban Dayo and Murad Leghari started from Dakhan Mohalla and ended at the press club after marching on different roads of the town.

JIRGA: A meeting of the All Parties Action Committee Jacobabad was held here on Friday against a jirga that decided to give five minor girls to settle a dispute.

Leaders of different political parties, Ali Lashari (Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Part), Nadeem Qureshi (People’s Part-Shaheed Bhutto), Deedar Lashari (Jamaat-i-Islami), Imdadullah, Abid Ali Bijarani (Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz) and Zulfiqar Solani said the decision taken in the jirga at Thul was shameful.
