KOHAT: The police seized an abandoned pick-up truck and recovered explosives packed in drums in the cantonment area here on Friday. Later, the explosives were defused.

The abandoned vehicle was spotted on the ISSB Road. The police called the bomb disposal squad.

The entire area was cordoned off during the time the explosives were defused An official said that the police had information that a terror attempt would be made in a sensitive area after which strict checking was ordered on all he entry and exit routes and checkposts. The vehicle had been abandoned after it collided with a tree. CCTV footage shows that an alleged terrorist fleeing the area after the accident.

The district police officer appealed to the citizens to help identify the fleeing terrorist, promising their names will be kept secret.

Earlier, the police had seized improvised explosive devices inside a house in Sheikhan village.
