LAHORE, June 15: The city operations police claimed on Thursday to have recovered a newborn baby abducted from the General Hospital and arrested one of the accused.

DIG Aamir Zulfikar said the gang used to abduct babies and sell them out to issueless couples.

He said the boy born to Rukhsana Parveen of Nankana Sahib was whisked away by a woman from the hospital on June 7 on the pretext of administering him polio drops.

He said the woman who abducted the baby had been identified as Taslima Bibi of Hafizabad, and a police team had been sent there for her arrest.

He said one of her accomplices, Ishfaq, had been arrested, while two others, Ibrar and Hafeez, were still at large. —Staff Reporter
