KARACHI: A huge fire broke out in a plastic factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone on Friday night, said officials. So far, no one has been hurt in the incident.

Rescue-1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan told Dawn that the fire had erupted in a plastic manufacturing unit in the export processing zone.

He said it was an intense fire, but six fire tenders were trying to put it out.

He said the blaze broke out on the ground floor of the building, which engulfed the first floor and now they were worried that it could extend to another floor of the industrial unit.

Realising the gravity of the problem, more fire tenders and snorkels have been called from across the metropolis to meet any eventuality. He said at present, no one was hurt in the incident.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and asked the Karachi commissioner to submit a report.
