HARIPUR: District police officer Shafullah Khan Gandapur has said police are making all-out efforts to curb the growing use of drugs among youth by involving them in healthy activities.

He stated this while addressing the participants of Mr Hazara bodybuilding championship 2026, which was organised by Builder Gold Gym here the other day.

Mr Gandapur said protecting youth from the menace of drugs was one of the key challenges that the country was facing, but expressed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s resolve to eradicate the menace of drug addiction and paddling and provide security to the life and property of the citizens. “Through sports and positive physical activities youth can not only improve their physical fitness by staying away from negative activities but also enable themselves to shoulder the future responsibilities of socioeconomic development of their families and country,” he said.

The DPO urged the youth to make the positive activities of sports as necessary part of their lives and shoulder the social and moral duty of helping the law enforcement agencies to cleanse the society from drugs and other social evils.

He also listed the successes that he claimed to have achieved in the fight against drug addiction and selling in the district, and sought the help of youth and sports clubs to get rid of substance use and its traders.

The DPO also distributed prizes among the players exhibiting extraordinary sports skills and fitness.
