KARACHI: His Highness and Begum Aga Khan arrived in Karachi from Delhi in a special chartered air-craft, at 2-15 p.m. on Sunday [Feb 4]. The Aga Khan was unwell and came out of the aircraft in a wheeled-chair. He was reported “better” in the evening. At the Airport he was received by the Iranian Ambassador in Pakistan, the Military Secretary to the Governor-General and a large crowd of admirers who filled the airport building and the tarmac.

In his wheeled-chair the Aga Khan was taken round the tarmac which was lined by members of the Aga Khan’s Supreme Council in Pakistan in their scarlet gowns and gold turbans. Though indisposed the Aga Khan looked cheerful and acknowledged the warm welcome from the host of admirers as he went round in his wheeled-chair with the Begum walking by his side.

The Aga Khani Band in Karachi played a welcome tune as the aircraft carrying the Aga Khan landed and also when he drove to Karachi from the airport. From the airport the Aga Khan drove straight to the Governor-General’s House to sign the Visitor’s Book and then to Hotel Metropole where he is staying. — Staff correspondent
