QUETTA, June 13: Kalpar Bugti tribe chief Wadera Khan Mohammad has urged the government to provide protection for rehabilitating 3,500 Kalpars in Dera Bugti district. Addressing a press conference at the press club on Tuesday, he alleged that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had dislodged the Kalpars in 1997 to get votes in parliament from Nawab Akbar Bugti for the Shariat bill.

He accused Wadera Ghulam Qadir Masuri, Tariq Masuri and Mir Hamadan Rahija of misleading the government about Kalpars and their resettlement in Sui town.

He alleged that Wadera Qadir Masuri of Bekar area and Mir Hamadan Rahija of Dera Bugti town were trying to get the Sui gas income, whereas the gas fields in the district belonged to Kalpars of the Bugti tribe.

He denied reports about his alleged reconciliation with Nawab Akbar Bugti.

He said that to fight back saboteurs his tribesmen needed weapons, vehicles and compensation for the losses they have suffered. He said that hundreds of Kalpars living in Sukkur, Kashmore, Rahimyar Khan and Jacobabad were waiting to return home in Sui.
