BADIN: Agriculture Extension officials have informed farmers that the Sindh government has announced financial assistance to promote cultivation of sunflower and canola crops to help strengthen agricultural growth and improve farmers’ livelihoods.

They were addressing an awareness seminar on Monday organised by the agriculture department in Shaheed Fazil Rahu Taluka for farmers.

The speakers included senior officials, including Director Technical / Project Director (oil seed crops) Khuda Bakhsh Kalhoro, Additional Director Ramesh Kumar, Director Oilseed Research Abrar Hussain, Planning Officer Saddam Hussain Pirzada and other.

Under the initiative, farmers possessing between one and 20 acres of land, who grow sunflower or canola, will receive Rs5,000 per acre, according to the officials.

They pointed out that sunflower and canola required less water and cheaper inputs, making them cost-effective and profitable options for growers while contributing positively to the provincial / national economy.

A large number of farmers attended the seminar and showed their keen interest in cultivating oil seeds.
