TOBA TEK SINGH: Three persons, including a lawyer, were booked for resorting to aerial firing at district bar elections in Faisalabad and Jaranwala.

In Faisalabad, Kotwali police booked a lawyer, Abdul Wahid Gujjar,

and unidentified accomplices for firing into the air as celebration of winning their candidates of the DBA election. A case has been registered against them under the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance 2015.

In Jaranwala, Atif Awan, a private person, and his unidentified accomplice were booked by the Jaranwala City police for resorting to indiscriminate aerial firing with Kalashnikovs in the bar room area after their favourite candidates won the bar election.

UAF: A meeting of the Regional Agriculture Forum, Central Punjab, has reaffirmed its commitment to make collaborative efforts on the part of academia, research, extension, farming community and industry to ensure food security.

The meeting chaired on Monday by the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali was also attended by Chief Scientist Wheat, Ayub Agriculture Rresearch Institute (AARI) Dr Javed Ahmad, Director Agriculture Extension Khalid Mehmood, UAF Dean Agriculture Dr Ghulam Murtaza, Director ORIC Dr Rao Zahid Abbas, Registrar Dr Asif Kamran, Dr Babar Shahbaz, Irfan Abbas, and Dr Hafizah Shafia Tehseen Gul.

The Forum consists of six divisions, including Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Gujranwala and Gujrat.

The meeting agreed to launching more capacity buildingprogrammes and making collaborative efforts by involving all stakeholders to promote modern technology.

The meeting also called for strong academia-industry linkages, knowledge sharing, fostering innovation and commercialisation of research and development. It lauded the wheat campaign run by the UAF in 2025.
