ISLAMABAD, June 9: Twelve students and the principal of a primary school suffered injuries when the roof of a classroom caved in here on Friday, police said.

The school is being run by an NGO at Mirabadi near G-11. The principal, Ms Saima, was teaching the students of class 1 when the roof caved in.

As a result, Ms Saima, and her students, Saba, 5, Mudasir, 6, Mubashir, 4, Walid, 5, Sadia, 5, Tahseen Zuhra, 5, Zeeshan, 5, Shumaila, 7, Sumrah, 7, Anila Iqbal, 7, Nabeel Iqbal, 7, and Hafza Bibi, 7, suffered bruises and cuts.

Rescue workers were immediately called, who retrieved the injured form the debris and shifted them to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

After emergency treatment, all injured children, except for Zeeshan, were admitted to the Children Hospital.

The police said the building was dilapidated and the roof had been supported with logs.
