Rain, snow in northern, western parts likely from 20th

RAWALPINDI: Rain and thunderstorms, with snowfall over hilly areas, are forecast in western and northern parts of the country from Dec 20 (Saturday) to Dec 22. The Met Office said on Thursday a westerly disturbance will enter Balochistan on Dec 19 (Friday) and is likely to affect the northern parts of the country from Saturday.

Under the influence of this system, rain with wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hills, is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, Chaghi, Kharan and Kalat areas of Balochistan from Friday evening to Saturday.

In Khyber Pakhtu­nkhwa, rain with wind and thunderstorms, with moderate snowfall in upper areas, is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbo­ttabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziri­stan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Kohat from Saturday night to Monday, with occasional gaps.

Rain with wind and thunderstorms, along with moderate to isolated heavy snowfall, is expected in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, and Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur areas of Azad Kashmir from Saturday night to Tuesday morning, with occasional gaps.

Rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, Mian­wali, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal and Layyah areas of Punjab from Saturday evening to Sunday.

Rain with wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall, is likely in Murree and Galliyat from Saturday night to Sunday. Cloudy conditions with drizzle are also expected in Sargodha, Khushab, Faisa­labad, Hafizabad, Gujra­nwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Multan, Jhang, D.G. Khan and Toba Tek Singh on Saturday and Sunday.

Partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected in most parts of Sindh on Friday and Saturday.
