QUETTA, June 8: Gas supply from Sui was restored to all affected areas of the country on Thursday after main compressor plant resume its full operation.

“The plant resume its full operation and we are supplying 100 percent gas to our subscribers Sui Southern Gas Company and Sui Northern Gas pipeline Company,” an official of the PPL told Dawn.

Sources said that the PPL made alternative arrangements to provide the required gas pressure to the main compressor plant.

They said that the supply had also been restored to all industrial units affected by the closure of the Sui plant following blast in the main gas pipeline feeding the plant from the gas field.

The sources said replacement of the destroyed pipeline was under way and it might be completed by Friday.

Meanwhile, security at the Sui gas field and of the gas pipelines feeding the plant has been tightened and more troops have been deployed in the area.

The security of the Sui plant and field was handed over to troops at the request of the Balochistan cabinet after fighting and attacks in the area in January 2005.
