SUKKUR, Oct 5: The Ghotki police on Friday registered a case against 35 people under the terrorist act on the alleged charges of demolishing the house of a poor woman and threatening to kill her in Mehar Mahar village, Ghotki District.

Some influential people wanted the woman, Mst Zainab, wife of M Saleh Maher, to vacate her house. When she refused to do so, armed men started demolishing it. They threatened her of dire consequences if she took any action against the influential people.

However, the woman went to the district Nazim, Sardar Ali Gohar, to seek justice. He appointed Naib Nazim Ghulam Haider Maher as an enquiry officer.

Mr Maher after completing his enquiry, submitted a report to the Nazim that the people whom she had held responsible for injuring her and demolishing her house were “innocent”.

However, the SSP, Ghotki, Dr Waliullah Dal, taking serious notice of the incident said it was a terrorist attack as the culprits not only demolished her house but also tried attacking her with an axe and beat her sons and brother-in-law mercilessly.

Those booked included Gullan Maher, Ali Gul Maher, Dosan Momin Maher, Rashid, Allah Bux, Ali Gul, Nooruddin, Naik Munno, Akram, Abdul Qadir, Khairal, Irshad, Abdul Khaliq and Lal Bux Maher.
