SHEIKHUPURA, June 7: Ruling party MNA and parliamentary secretary Saeed Ahmad Virk has alleged that although district nazim Mian Jalil Sharqpuri has joined the PML, he still has affiliation with his former political party, the PML-N.

He said at a press conference here on Wednesday that Mr Sharqpuri had lost his credibility and majority of district council members were prepared to present a no-confidence motion against him shortly.

The MNA claimed that the nazim did not take interest in the affairs of the council as a result of which problems of the public remained unsolved.

Mr Virk said the nazim gave no time to the office. He attended the office twice a week.

Three killed: Three people were killed in a road accident on the Motorway near Farooqabad on Wednesday.

Reports said that a poultry farmer and his two employees were on their way to Lahore from Islamabad by a loader wagon (LZB-6296) laden with birds. Near the Farooqabad canal bridge, the speeding vehicle overturned after the driver lost control over the steering. Consequently, driver Nadeem, helper Arif and poultry farm owner Zahid of Jaranwala died on the spot.

LOOTED: Two armed dacoits sneaked into the house of Rafaqat Ali in Iqbal Park, held hostage inmates, collected ornaments and cash worth thousands of rupees and escaped.

A-Division police are going into the matter.
