SUKKUR, Feb 7: The Deputy Conservator of Wildlife, Sukkur, has said that during raids at different places in Sukkur and Larkana the officials of Wildlife have arrested 10 poachers, during the month of January.

Those arrested are Wadero Khadim Hussain Aradin, Wadero Ghulam Serwer, Ghulam Haider Aradin, Wadero Muhammad Hayat Junejo, Mir Ghulam Shabbir and Mir Allah Bux Talpur of Razabad, Wadero Sajjid Bhabhan of Zaferabad, and Rajib Ali Mangi, Tapedar of Tapo-Khenwari (Nara). They were violating the Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance-1972.

They have been challaned and fined for illegal hunting of partridges in Nara Game Reserve. Sahib Zaidi, Sesil Chaudhary and Randal have also been challaned in the same cases.

A smuggler, Muhammad Abu Bakar Arain, resident of Rajanpur, was also arrested along with nine alive Taloors at the Jacobabad Railway station on Feb 6. He was carrying these birds from Rajanpur to Karachi in 21-Up Chiltan Express.

The poachers have been released after recovering a total fine of Rs180,000 from them.

A sum of Rs20,000 has been paid as a reward to the field staff.

The people have been informed that the hunting season for partridges was overon Jan 28, while duck shooting is allowed up to Feb 28.
