HYDERABAD, June 6: The University of Sindh has withdrawn a PhD degree and cancelled provisional certificate issued to Asad Shaikh, associate professor of the Institute of Information Technology.

The cancellation of the degree was unanimously decided by the advanced studies and research board on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui presided over the meeting.

The meeting said that the working paper circulated by the controller of examinations on statement given by Asad Shaikh was of non-serious nature.

The meeting also decided to issue a show-cause notice to Asad Shaikh about his non-serious attitude to research.

The meeting approved research topics of 18 candidates for MPhil programme in various disciplines and allowed different scholars to supervise research of candidates.
