SUKKUR: Four tribesmen were killed and eight others injured when a clash flared up between two rival groups of the Ulra and Jatoi communities, in the riverine area falling within the jurisdiction of the Faiz Muhammad Bhundo Police Station near Piryaloi in Khairpur.

The two sides are at daggers drawn over an old blood dispute started following a matrimonial issue.

Reports reaching here from the area suggested that the firing started between them near the Indus bank and the two sides attacked each other with latest weapons.

The dead were identified as Majid, son of Ali Bakhsh Ulro; Gullan, son of Rahib Ulro; Dhani Bakhsh, son of Umaid Ali Ulro, and Azam, son of Illahi Bakhsh Jatoi. They died on the spot and their bodies remained on the ground during the gun battle.

The eight people injured included Naseem, son of Manthar Ulro; Raheem son of Umaid Ali Ulro; Raheem Ulro; Ishaq, son of Muhammad Murad Odho. Two of the wounded tribesmen were said to be in critical condition.

Sources reported that police arrived late on the spot despite the heavy firing and the Khairpur SSP claimed that police acted promptly and pursued the attackers.
