CHARSADDA: A delegation comprising representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and the Peshawar High Court Bar Association visited the judicial complex here on Saturday in order to resolve a dispute between the Charsadda District Bar Association and the additional district and sessions judge.

The visitors held separate meetings with the bar cabinet and the judges.

However, the Charsadda bar announced that the boycott of courts in Charsadda, Tangi and Shabqadar would continue.

President of the bar association Mujeebur Rehman said the lawyers opted for judicial boycott to protest the alleged inappropriate behaviour of ADSJ toward general secretary of the association Jawad Ahmad, which caused unrest among the legal community.

The ADSJ later awarded different sentences to two lawyers, while FIRs were registered against several others, intensifying the bar’s protest.

A delegation of the KP Bar Council, led by Syed Taimoor Ali Shah, arrived in Charsadda to resolve the issue.

Similarly, Tangi Bar Association president Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Mohmand and general secretary Shakeel Khan and Shabqadar Bar president Jan Parwar Khan along with general secretary Fasihullah, also participated in the reconciliation process.

The delegation met the district bar association’s president, Mujeebur Rehman, and the bar cabinet and heard their grievances. It later met the ADSJ and other judges.

Mr Rehman told reporters that both the KP Bar Council and PHC Bar promised early yet amicable resolution of the dispute.

He, however, said the boycott of courts in Charsadda, Tangi and Shabqadar would continue.
