SWABI: The Swabi police on Friday conducted mock exercises and asked the educational institutions to enhance their security in the wake of growing terrorist attacks in different parts of the country.
A mock exercise was held in the Shahmansoor Judicial Complex (where majority of district offices are situated); in Zaida police station limits and China Camp, which houses Chinese workers engaged in the Tarbela Dam’s fifth extension project.
DSP headquarters Fazal Sher Khan, DSP Swabi Ijaz Abazai, SHO Zaida police station Farooq Khan, SHO Swabi police station Saifullah Khan, Topi police and Rescue 1122 personnel participated in the mock exercises.
Various police units, including Rapid Response Force and Elite Force squads, also participated in the exercises.
On the occasion, district police officer Ziauddin Ahmed said the police were alert at all times to protect the life and property of people.
“Such drills enhance the professional capabilities of the police force and prove helpful in ensuring prompt and effective response in emergency situations,” he elaborated.
Meanwhile, Chota Lahor police officers visited the University of Swabi and other public and private educational institutions, conducting a detailed review of security arrangements, and issuing instructions for further enhancing the security arrangements.
Also in day, a local trader, who was injured in firing by unidentified robbers on Thursday, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital, his family said.
Noorul Hadi, from Gulo Dheri village, was seriously injured when unknown robbers opened fire on his shop in a bid to rob him.
He was shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital in critical condition. Later, he was referred to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, where he passed away.
Separately, one person was killed and another injured when roof a house collapsed in Marghuz village on Friday, rescue officials said.
