PESHAWAR, June 4: Iranian Consul-General in Peshawar Hassan Imani on Sunday paid homage to the leader of Iranian revolution, Imam Khomeini, saying his bold and sagacious leadership had made the Islamic Revolution possible on Feb 11, 1979.

Addressing a seminar held to mark the 17th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, he said Iranians were united to protect the revolution.

He said Imam Khomeini had strived hard to mobilise people to rise in unison against the tyrannical rule of Raza Shah Pehalvi.

Referring to challenges facing Iran, the diplomat said: “The Islamic Revolution in Iran has stood the test of time. The wise leadership of Imam Khomeini defeated all conspiracies against the revolution in the past ... The present Iranian leadership is pursuing the policies evolved by our great leader Khomeini.”

Allama Mohammad Ramazan Tauqeer, adviser to chief minister, said that Imam Khomeini had struggled against forces conspiring to divide Muslims along sectarian lines.
