RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Post on Thursday directed all postmaster generals across the country to activate the delivery application and submit their reports by November 14.

“These devices have been provided to post offices across the country with the funds of the Universal Postal Union,” Director General Samiullah Khan.

In addition, Pakistan Post has finalised several recommendations aimed at saving the institution from privatisation. The Federal Minister for Communications will soon be briefed on these proposals.

A senior official of Pakistan Post said the government has set a deadline of December 31 for the organisation to overcome its financial losses. In the recommendations, officials have termed digitalisation essential for the institution’s survival. Initially, key post offices will be equipped with the latest computerised facilities to meet the growing demand from e-commerce users.

Through digitalisation, several new and profitable public service projects can be launched immediately. It has also been learned that concrete measures are being taken to ensure timely transmission and delivery of mail, which will significantly improve the quality of services.
