BAJAUR: Authorities on Monday sealed eight shops during a crackdown on substandard fertiliser in Bajaur.
The action, launched following the farmers’ complaints about the sale of substandard fertiliser in various markets, was conducted by a joint team of local agriculture department’s office and the district administration, a statement issued here said.
The team led by assistant director agriculture Dr Subhanddin inspected several urea outlets in Khar, Sadiqabad and other bazaars and collected samples from them.
After testing and analysis of the samples in laboratories, many fertilisers were found to be substandard, leading to sealing of eight outlets.
PROTEST: Students of Government Boys High School, Sabibabad, on Monday staged a demonstration against the shortage of teachers and facilities in the institution.
Scores of students participated in the demonstration held outside the education department’s office in Civil Colony, Khar.
They pointed out that the school having strength of over 800 students was facing shortage of teachers and basic facilities, badly affecting the learning environment.
They said that despite the shortage of teachers, the local education department recently transferred a science teacher from the school, creating unrest among the students, especially 9th and 10th graders.
The students, however, dispersed after Khar assistant commissioner Dr Sadiq Ali accompanied by the deputy education officer assured them to address their issues.
