PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa excise and narcotics control department has seized a huge cache of drugs in the ongoing province wide anti-narcotics campaign.
During the continued campaign, the excise and narcotics control teams have conducted a series of coordinated operations across Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Khyber, Abbotabad and Charsadda, according to a statement.
These sustained enforcement actions have led to significant results including seizure of 168.8 kilograms of charas, 5 kilograms of ICE (methamphetamine) and 1.2 kilograms of opium.
A total of 15 accused persons were arrested and 12 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered under the relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 2019.
The department has launched the campaign in line with the provincial government’s vision for a drug-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the excise, taxation and narcotics control department has intensified province-wide anti-narcotics campaign under the directives of the newly appointed minister for excise and narcotics, Syed Fakhar Jihan.
The campaign aims to dismantle drug trafficking networks, particularly targeting methamphetamine (ICE), while protecting the province’s youth from its abuse.
These achievements underscore the department’s operational effectiveness and unwavering commitment to curbing the illicit drug trade.
Enhanced coordination with the police, anti-narcotics force (ANF) and other law enforcement agencies has further strengthened the collective response to organised drug trafficking networks.
Simultaneously, public awareness campaigns are being implemented to educate youth and communities
about the dangers of drug addiction.
The minister for excise, taxation and narcotics control reaffirmed the government’s determination, stating that there will be no leniency or exceptions for those involved in narcotics activities.
