SUKKUR: An elderly woman and her two grandchildren were killed were killed when the car they were traveling by overturned and plunged into a pond near Shambi Shah police check-point in Jacobabad district on Saturday.

Two other occupants of the car were injured in the accident, according to officials at the Saddar police station.

The deceased were identified as Mrs Hanifa Ghulam Hussain Gujjar and her grandchildren as Arsalan,10, and Inshaal, 8. The siblings’ father, Aijaz Ahmed Gujjar, a resident of Lahore, and his companion, Mohammad Irfan, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, were rushed to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital for treatment.

The police said that the speeding car was on its way to Punjab from Balochistan when it met with the accident.

Biker killed, four children hurt on road

A man, Mir Mohammad Siyal, was killed and his four children were injured when the motorcycle they were riding dashed against a tractor-driven trolley near Khanpur Mahar bypass in Ghotki district on Saturday.

Siyal was a resident of Jam Wah village situated near Adilpur town. He along with his injured children — Muzaffar Ali, 10, Razal, 8, Nafisa, 6, and Sudhiran, 4, — was rushed to the Khanpur Mahar Taluka Hospital and later referred to the Sukkur Civil Hospital due to his critical condition. Siyal died during treatment. The children were being provided treatment for multiple injuries at the taluka hospital.
