PESHAWAR, June 2: The annual general meeting of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) began at the Khyber Medical College on Friday.

Disaster management is the main theme of the three-day event. NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan, who was the chief guest, urged medical students to concentrate on humanitarian services.

Students of the King Edward Medical College, Dow Medical College, Aga Khan Medical University and other institutions attended the meeting.

During an interactive session, most of the participants stressed development of communication skills so that the health professionals could easily communicate with patients during natural disasters like the October 8 earthquake. It was underlined that apart from health services, doctors could also contribute in other fields of life, including educating people.
