ISLAMABAD, May 30: President General Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday telephoned his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono and offered wholehearted support from Pakistan in the wake of last weekend’s earthquake in the central Java province which claimed up to 5,000 lives.

“The government and the people of Pakistan fully share Indonesia’s sorrow over loss of lives and will extend all support to their Indonesian brethren in overcoming this disaster,” said President Musharraf.

Mr Yodhoyono was informed that Pakistan had sent another consignment of relief goods worth Rs1 million to Indonesia.

President Musharraf said Pakistan stands firm with the government and people of Indonesia as they strive to cope with the natural disaster in this hour of tragedy.—APP
