LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that individuals with mental health conditions will be provided with skill training through Technical and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) to help them reintegrate into society.

Addressing a ceremony here on Thursday, she said that the Punjab government was paying special attention to the health sector.

“The largest cancer hospital in Punjab’s history is nearing completion. The facilities at the Punjab Institute of Mental Health have been upgraded and an MRI and scanning machine will soon be provided,” she said.

The minister said that the government was actively working to promote mental health and well-being of citizens.

She said that under the Clinic on Wheels initiative, quality healthcare services were being provided at people’s doorsteps.

Ms Aurangzeb said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was committed to ensuring the provision of better health facilities for the people.

She also stressed the need for a dedicated mobile application for the Punjab Institute of Mental Health to make mental health services more accessible.

JIC: International level medical facilities will be provided to patients at the state-of-the-art Jinnah Institute of Cardiology being built with a huge amount of about Rs9 billion.

This was stated by Provincial Health Minister Salman Rafique during a visit to the under-construction JIC building. Officers and contractors of the executing agency IDAP gave a briefing on the ongoing progress.
