Man killed over money dispute

KASUR, May 29: A man was allegedly killed over a monetary issue here on Monday at Kalo Khara village in Raja Jang police limits. Reports said Abdul Rasheed alias Foji suspected that Ashfaq alias Shahzad had stolen a calling card worth Rs500 from his shop.

Later, Rasheed took him to a house, beat him up with clubs, injuring him seriously. He was referred to Gulab Devi hospital, Lahore where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered a case.

PTU: The government is weakening the educational system to please international agencies.

Punjab Teachers Union district president Shah M Tariq told the press at a news conference here on Monday that a large number of teachers was being rendered jobless.

He said they would launch a country-wide protest drive against the removal of teachers on the pretext of educational reforms.

They also demanded an increase in salaries.

Other PTU office-bearers were also present on the occasion.
