OKARA, May 29: A teenager was strangled to death allegedly by his friends over a trifle on Sunday night at Muslim colony. Reports said Naeem, 15, had exchange hot words with his friend Khurram Masih a few days ago but elders of the locality had reconciled them.

On Sunday night, Khurram Masih and his three unidentified accomplices came to the house of Naeem alias Bhola and took him towards Lower Bari Doab Canal where they beat him up and strangled him.

On receiving information, Naeem’s father Muhammad Naseem informed the police and his body was sent to DHQ hospital for autopsy.

City police are investigating.

In another incident, a youth, Ahmad, committed suicide here on Monday in Hujra Shah Muqeem police limits. The reason for the suicide could not be ascertained. The police are investigating.

RAISE DEMANDED: Scores of lady health workers (LHW) of the district have demanded a Rs500 per month raise in their salaries as announced by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on the eve of LHW convention in Lahore on May 22, 2005.

They have reminded the prime minister of his promise, urging him to release funds for the purpose.
