BAHAWALPUR, May 28: The toll from poisonous liquor rose to seven with the death of two more drinkers here on Sunday. The post-mortem examination of victims — Karim Bukhsh and Ahmed Bukhsh — was conducted at the BVH mortuary under the police supervision. Later, bodies were handed over to their respective parents, who buried them in a local graveyard.

According to a preliminary post-mortem report, poisonous liquor caused their deaths.

A woman, Parveen Bibi alias Sheena of the Nazirabad Colony, was also among the victims.

It was learnt that parents of the deceased buried their love ones silently with the claim that they died of heatstroke and not by consuming poisonous liquor.

Sadar police registered a case on Sunday against accused Nawaz alias Shimla, his brother Abid and father Farid of Mauza Baqirpur for supplying poisonous liquor.

Police have reportedly taken one or two accused into custody and are interrogating.
