KOHAT, May 28: Three children drowned in a stream in an area close to the Afghan border in Kurram Agency on Saturday. Four children were crossing the stream which was swollen with rain water when they were swept away by strong water current.

Two brothers, sons of Waheed, and another boy, son of Pao Khan, drowned but local people rescued the fourth child, son of Kamran.

The bodies of three victims were recovered when water level in the stream came down.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash parts of Kohat and adjoining districts over the past 24 hours ending on Sunday evening.

A light rain on Saturday evening was followed by a major power breakdown and power interruptions continued with short intervals till Sunday morning.
