SAHIWAL: Twelve persons were booked in four cases over a brawl between official sand mining contractors and private men.

Reports said a licensed sand mining contractor, Muhammad Zaman, filed a complaint with police and sought their help against people who were forcibly mining sand along with threatened official contractors.

Reports said that on Sunday night, Zaman and his workers saw private men stealing sand with tractor-trolleys from his area.

When stopped by Zaman, they severely beat his workers as well as a tractor-trolley driver near Al Razaq Royal, Madhali Road, and Chak 87/6-R.

Later, Farid Town police booked 12 persons in four FIRs on the complaint of Zaman.

The police also confiscated sand trolleys.

Those booked included Irshad Ahmed Saghla, Abdul Ghafoor, Rizwan Saleem, Gulam Rasool, Sajid Ali, Ali Ahmed, Muhammad Naeem, Ali Ahmed, Muhammad Irshad, Nouraz, Nawaz, Allah Yar and etc.
