RAHIM YAR KHAN, May 27: A woman was torched to death on Friday by her husband and father-in-law over a family dispute in Basti Bakho Khan in Mouza Khichi Jamal, Khanpur.

Safia Bibi, the daughter of Khuda Bukhsh, was married to Fazal Hussain some six years ago and Ghulam Hussain, the brother of Safia, was married to Hafeeza, the sister of Fazal. About a week back, Safia Bibi came to her parents’ after an altercation with her in-laws. In retaliation, Hafeeza Bibi likewise returned to her parent’s house.

On Thursday, Fazal along with his parents came to Khuda Bakhsh’s house to settle the issue, but the situation became more problematic. On Friday, the younger brother of Ghulam Hussain informed the family members that, in their absence, he found Fazal, his brother Nazar and their father Ashiq entering the house. Later, he saw some smoke in the house. Upon informing them, they rushed to their house and found Safia died from burn wounds.

Khanpur police have registered a case against the accused.
