Pakistan face India in opener

LAHORE, May 26: Pakistan will face India in the opening match of the six-nation junior hockey tournament to be held in Poland from May 29.

Russia will be Pakistan’s next opponent on May 30 and the host on June 1. Czech Republic will meet Pakistan on June 3 and Germany in the last outing on June 4.

The Pakistan team will leave for Poland on Saturday.

Former Olympian Manzoor Junior will accompany the team as manager while Qamar Ibrahim as coach.

Team:

Goalkeeper: Imran Shah.

Full-backs: Waqas Ahmed, Sajid Khan, Shahzad Aslam, Kashif.

Half-backs: M. Ateeq, M. Irfan, M. Zaheer, Amir Shahzad.

Forwards: Adil Hussain, Irfan AH Khan, Haseem Khan, Shafqat Rasool, Abbass Haider, M. Imran, Imran Malik, Atif and Farid.

Officials: Manzoor Hussain Jr. (manager) Qamar Ibrahim (coach), Khalid Bashir (assistant coach), Ahmad Alam (goalkeeping coach) and Dr. Waqar Salim.
